Woodland Camp Update – 1 July 2019
This week’s focus was the installation of the screw piles and the erection of the steel beam and block for the new cabins.
The screw piles are installed up to 11 metres deep and are used to provide a foundation while minimising damage to any tree roots.
The screw piles need to be aligned at the centre point of the hole and then screwed into the soil using a torque head on an excavator.
In some cases, an additional 2 metre shafts needed to be added to obtain the required depth on the ground.
After the installation of the screw piles, to complete the cabin foundation steel beams and blocks were installed on the screw piles.
The brothers have begun erecting steel wall frames on a new cabin.
